A fair score ranges from 650 to 699, a good score is 700 to 759, and a perfect credit score is 850. Borrowers with generally higher credit scores receive lower interest rates than borrowers with lower credit scores.
Down payment and loan amount: If you are willing and able to make a large down payment on a house, mortgage lenders assume less risk and will offer you a better rate. If you do not have enough money to put down twenty percent on your mortgage, you will probably have to pay private mortgage insurance.
